Submitting opportunities
This page is for sellers and admins. It shows how to send a HubSpot deal to AWS Partner Central as a co-sell opportunity from the FlowState card, and how templates and auto-submit do part of the work for you.
The FlowState card
The FlowState APN Sync card is on the HubSpot deal page. It shows the status line and one row for each part of the work. Open on a row opens the APN opportunity panel on the matching tab:
| Tab | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Prepare the Deal for APN | Fill in the fields AWS needs, such as Industry, the partner need from AWS and the delivery model. |
| Business problem | Write or generate the business problem, the text AWS reviewers read first. |
| Readiness | See what is still missing, and submit the opportunity. |
| Next steps | Add your next step, and read the next step AWS has set. |
| Stakeholders | See the AWS team on the opportunity. |
| Marketplace | Create AWS Marketplace private offers for this deal. See Marketplace Offers. This tab shows only when Marketplace Offers is turned on for your tenant. |
Click Refresh on the card to read the latest status from AWS.
Submit an opportunity from the card
Before you start: APN is connected, the FlowState card is on the deal page, and the deal’s stage is mapped (see Deal stage mapping).
- Open the deal in HubSpot.
- On the FlowState card, click Open next to Prepare the Deal for APN.
- Fill in the required fields. Industry always shows. If FlowState found an industry for the deal, it is filled in already, and you can change it. More fields are under Optional fields.
- Click Save fields.
- Open the Business problem tab and add a business problem. You can type one in HubSpot, or generate one.
- Open the Readiness tab. If it shows Still needed before AWS will accept this, fill in the fields it lists.
- Click Submit to AWS.
- If the card asks Submit with a weaker business problem?, click Submit anyway, or click Cancel and improve the business problem first.
Result: the status line shows Submitted — waiting for AWS review, and a Changes synced to AWS note appears on the deal timeline. When AWS starts its review, the status changes to Under AWS review.
If it fails: the card shows APN sync failed with the reason. See Troubleshooting.
Submit to AWS is available only once. After AWS has the opportunity, the Readiness tab shows Already submitted. Anything AWS wants after that comes back as a review comment on the Business problem tab.
Generate a business problem
FlowState can write the business problem for you from a template and what it knows about the deal. It scores the draft against the points that AWS reviewers look for.
- On the FlowState card, click Open next to Business problem.
- Pick a template:
- If the card shows Suggested: …, click Use this template; or
- choose a template in Choose a template and click Generate.
- Wait until the draft shows under Proposed, next to the current text.
- Read the score and the list of gaps. To improve the draft, answer the questions you can (all are optional), add a note under Anything a form can’t capture (for example, “make it shorter”), and click Regenerate with these answers.
- When the draft is right, click Save & submit. To drop the draft and keep the deal as it was, click Discard.
Result: Save & submit writes the business problem to the deal and submits the opportunity to AWS. You do not need to click Submit to AWS as well. The card shows Saved and submitted.
Good to know:
- A draft never changes the deal until you click Save & submit.
- The text that Save & submit replaces is kept. To bring back an older text, open Previous versions.
- The first 5 generations on a deal are free. After that, each generation costs $0.03. The card shows how many free generations are left before you click.
- While AWS reviews the opportunity, the business problem is locked. After approval you cannot change it.
- Anyone who can open the deal in HubSpot can use the card. If only some people may submit to AWS, agree on that in your team.
Templates
Templates live on Apps → APN → Templates. There are two kinds:
| Template | What it does |
|---|---|
| Business Problem Templates | A name, a skeleton and guidance that FlowState uses to generate a business problem. |
| Default Fields Templates | Values for the Prepare the Deal for APN fields, for example your usual delivery model. |
Create a template
- Go to Apps → APN → Templates → Business Problem (or Default Fields).
- Click New template.
- Enter a Name and fill in the template.
- Click Create template.
- Optional: click the star next to the template to make it your default. You can have one default of each kind.
A new tenant has no business-problem templates. On the empty list, click Add example templates to add worked examples (for example, migration to AWS or generative AI on Amazon Bedrock). You can change them like your own.
To retire a template, click the archive icon next to it and confirm. An archived template is hidden, but not deleted. Turn on Show archived templates to see it again.
Auto-submit
Auto-submit lets FlowState submit deals without a seller clicking anything. Turn it on in the default template with the Auto-submit when ready switch. The template list then shows Auto-submits next to it.
| Default template with auto-submit | What FlowState does |
|---|---|
| Default Fields Template | Saves the template values into the deal’s empty fields, and submits the deal to AWS as soon as no required field is missing. |
| Default Business Problem Template | Generates a business problem for a deal that has none, approves it, and submits the deal. Nobody reviews the text first. |
Auto-submit applies only to deals with APN Sync with AWS enabled set to Yes. While the default fields template auto-submits, the Prepare the Deal for APN tab shows This deal can submit itself.
With auto-submit on the business-problem template, AWS receives text that no person has read. After submission, AWS locks the business problem. Turn it on only when you trust the generated text.
Over MCP
The same actions are available as MCP tools, for example generate_apn_business_problem,
keep_apn_business_problem, list_apn_templates and trigger_apn_sync. See the
