Deleting your tenant

Deleting a tenant does not remove its data at once. The tenant is locked for 30 days, during which you can restore it. After 30 days, FlowState deletes it permanently.

Tenant lifecycle: an active tenant becomes deleted, locked but restorable for 30 days. Restore returns it to active; after 30 days it is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Delete a tenant

In the web app (organisation admins):

  1. Click Organisation at the bottom of the tenant sidebar.
  2. Open Tenants.
  3. Next to the tenant, click Delete.
  4. Type the tenant’s slug to confirm and click Delete.

Result: FlowState shows Tenant ”…” deleted. The tenant stays in the list as deleted.

With an AI assistant (tenant owner): use the MCP tool soft_delete_tenant(confirm) with the tenant’s slug as confirm.

FlowState refuses to delete the organisation’s last tenant with members while the organisation still has other, already deleted tenants. The organisation’s only tenant can be deleted.

What happens at once

  • Every member, including the owner, is locked out of the tenant.
  • Nothing is deleted yet. Members, integrations and settings stay as they were.
  • The slug stays reserved, so nobody else can take it during the 30 days.

Restore a tenant

Within 30 days:

  • In the web app: Organisation → Tenants, then Restore next to the tenant.
  • With an AI assistant: the MCP tool restore_tenant().

Result: FlowState shows Tenant ”…” restored. Everything is back as it was; nobody has to be invited again.

After 30 days, or once the permanent deletion has started, the tenant cannot be restored.

After 30 days

FlowState deletes the tenant’s records and schedules its encryption key for deletion. Nobody, including FlowState support, can recover the data after that. Export anything you need before the 30 days are over.

When the subscription ends

A cancelled subscription, or a payment that is never made, does not delete tenants. It suspends every tenant of the organisation:

  1. When the subscription ends, the tenants are suspended and nobody can use them. The owners and admins of each tenant and the organisation admins get the email Tenant suspended for non-payment.
  2. 14 days before the permanent deletion, they get the email Tenant scheduled for deletion.
  3. 90 days after the suspension, FlowState deletes the tenants permanently.

To keep the tenants, subscribe again before then: on Organisation → Billing, click Subscribe with Stripe, or subscribe again on AWS Marketplace. The suspended tenants become active again.
